Closed-circuit television (CCTV) is the use of video cameras to transmit a signal to a specific and limited number of viewing monitors. The difference between CCTV and broadcast television is that the CCTV signal is not transmitted openly. Video Surveillance is used in areas which need security. Some of these areas include banks, casinos, and airports. In a manufacturing or production plant, CCTV may be used to observe certain parts of a process that are remote from a control room. It may also serve as a means to watch an area which is hazardous to humans. CCTV systems sometimes operate on a continuous basis, or as needed in specific circumstances.
